
Amy Schmidt
IMHS Director
Amy Schmidt has previously served as a Director of Patient Safety for Comagine Health, leading the State-Based Infection Prevention Program team responsible for implementing infection prevention and control education and consultation contracts in residential care settings in Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington. In partnership with Alliant Health Services, she also oversees the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health in Nursing Homes.
Prior to joining Comagine Health in 2017, Amy worked for Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada where she served for more than eight years as its Volunteer Director, Administrative Director and finally its Executive Director. She oversaw the construction and opening of its flagship Ruffin Family Clinic in West Las Vegas, which in addition to providing primary care services for eligible uninsured Nevadans, added social and behavioral health and dental health services to its list of offerings.
Amy is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has been trained in relational and facilitative leadership and is currently pursuing professional certification in patient safety through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
